Last year the Behind the Bombers Website had the courage to print my article Reverse the Curse! I specifically informed you what you needed to do in order to again win the Babe's confidence and insure another Yankee dynasty. Let me refresh your memory you were to:
1. Tell the Babe the Red Sox fans had suffered enough and play them without the Babe's help.
2. Join with the Red Sox fans to end the Curse so the Babe could devote full time energy to defeating the National League in the World Series.
3. Remove the Babe from Centerfield in Yankee Stadium so he can be sheltered from the elements and all that pigeon doo doo.
You performed brilliantly in the first two. You clearly got the Babe's ear and based on your sense of fair play he must have decided not to interfere between the Yankee and Red Sox series. You played our Team fair and square and Red Sox fans are very pleased with the result. You also joined with us to root for us and the American League to beat the St. Louis Cardinals and the National League. The Babe was right there with us as The Red Sox rendered a historic whipping on a great Cardinals team.
However, you failed miserably on point three. I didn't hear of one letter,e-mail,or conversation on radio or T.V. of New York Yankee Fans demanding that the Babe's statue be removed from centerfield and given shelter from the pigeons. Oh the lack of humanity of it all as Newman might say!! Now, you guys are really in trouble. The Curse has been transferred not broken...Yes, the Curse has been transferred to your beloved New York Yankees. You won't ever win another Championship! All because the Babe is simply not being treated with respect. My advice to you is to follow through on point three. Contact the New York Yankee organization and urge that the Babe be given a proper place in Yankee Stadium. Get him out of Centerfield!! Otherwise, the Curse may be with you forever and forever!!
Oh by the way, it is not all peaches and cream with Red Sox Fans either. Although there are some 5,000,000 Red Sox Fans expected to be in Boston today for the Boston Red Sox victory parade, there are a few and likely a growing number in the future getting very concerned about what has happened. What are we worried about? One word: WINNING! Let me share with you an excerpt from my song Babe Ruth's Curse 2 from my CD Baseball Songs Sports Heroes.
What would we do if our Sox did win?
Oh, what a horrible fix we'd be in
Nothing to hope for Nothing to fear
Never to utter Wait til next year
Hey Mister Babe please keep up your Curse
Tis better to lose a win would be worse!!!!
And, you Yankee fans think you've got problems! Naw!
Best to you all.
