YANKEES PRIDE
By Sally Nixon
In the year two thousand and four,
Our Yankees waged a war.
Hitting hard and standing tall,
the teams began to fall.
Day by day, week by week, our Yankees made us proud.
The silent fears and worried whispers were heard through out the crowd.
The Yankees are coming, the Yankees are coming while fear began to rise.
Slowly but surely, each team they faced became the Yankees prize.
Derek, Jorgie, Bernie and Mo, continued to prevail.
However weak the pitching staffs these four just would not fail.
This fearsome four have battled well and knew what victory meant,
Because they are in every respect a pin stripe Yankees Gent.
In New York this very year, the Sox did come and win.
The players in the pin stripes, had to take it on the chin.
With shirts tucked in and hair cut cleanly you truly did impress,
Because we know the Red Sox players certainly looked a mess.
History now holds the Red Sox names on two of its golden pages.
And the several feats they overcame will be told throughout the ages.
But fear not all you pinstripe fans, this book has yet to close,
For the lines of history have always shown the threat the Yankees pose.
They made us cheer, through ups and downs, they always made it fun.
We’re proud of our Yanks, the men of the Bronx, each and everyone.
Remember while hearing the Red Sox cheers and quietly waiting our turn,
That the mighty Bronx Bombers, these Yankees hero’s, always do return.
